Choosing The Right Nude Lip Color For Your Skintone

In a sea of nude lipsticks, it can be hard to choose! A lot of women shy away from this lip color, due to the fact that they think is washes them out. I'm here to tell you that that is not always the case. If you have the correct shade for your skin tone, a nude lip can be very sexy yet subtle for those who don't want to go to bold with their lip colors. A nude lipstick is wearable for everyone, and can be worn on every occasion. If you don't own a nude lip color, I suggest purchasing one. This type of lip color is the most versatile of all, and you will get your money's worth. Finding a nude lip shouldn't be a guessing game, below is a guide to nude lips for every skin tone.

Light/Fair Skin

If you have light/fair skin like I do, you know how many nude lips colors completely blend in with your skin, and end up making you look like a ghost! Your best bet is to choose a nude lip color with pink tones. The pink tones look natural, without completely blending in to the color of your skin. A good example of a pinky nude-ish color like this would be : M.A.C.'s Creme Cup. This is one of M.A.C.'s cream sheen finishes, which I love. Not to dry, not to glossy. If M.A.C. is not in your price range, here are some dupes: Wet-N-Wild in "Think Pink", and Maybelline's "Born With it".

Medium Skin

If you have a medium skin tone, your nude colors are going to be a little darker than the fair skin's nude.  Usually this skin tone looks best in a nude in the beige and brown color family, with a pink tone to it.  Here are some examples for medium skin, the plus side is that these products are super cheap! 902C Bare It All by Wet n Wild & Kate Moss by Rimmel London #14.

Dark Skin

When choosing a nude for dark skin, you don't want to go too light, this will make you appear clownish. The darker your skin, the darker the color needs to be, to look as natural as possible. An example would be Bobbi Brown's 'Cocoa', or M.A.C's 'Stay In Touch'. Dupes: The Body Shop's lipstick in 'Vanilla'. Shown below is Bobbi Brown's 'Cocoa' and how it looks on the lips.

Prep School : Your Guide To Preppy Fashion

                                   Prepster.
                                    (noun)
A girl who likes to drape herself
                   in Polka Dots, Lilly Pullitzer
                                  & Pearls.

Lately, I've been finding my self being drawn towards a more preppy look. I don't know why, but whenever I'm out shopping I can't pass up that cute floral blazer, or the oh-so- popular, striped top. The preppy clothing style, is trending and super hot right now. You can't walk into a clothing store without seeing navy blue and coral hues. I for one am not displeased with this trend, and hope the polka dots and pearls keep coming.

Here is a list of the top ten items you will need to pull off preppy fashion:

1. The Bright Blazer
2. Something Monogrammed
3. Oxfords
4. Button Downs
5. Pearls
6. Crew Neck Sweater
7. Classic Gold Watch
8. Boyfriend Jeans
9. Bermuda Shorts
10. Tote Bag

        The Bright Blazer

This is probably one of the basic staples you already have in your closet, I must emphasize this is one of the MOST IMPORTANT items of clothing when it comes down to dressing preppy. Your blazer will be the final touch to every outfit, the icing on top of the cake. Don't skimp on your blazer! It is cheaper in the long run to invest in a more expensive, rather than having to keep buying cheap ones that fall apart after one measly wash!

Something Monogrammed

I am so happy that monograms are back in the fashion world. Having something monogrammed makes an outfit feel personal and special. Its like adding you signature to every outfit you wear. The great thing about monograms is that they can virtually be placed on anything or anywhere your heart desires. Whether it's your favorite bag, sweater, or necklace, I guarantee a monogram will take you one step further into the preppy persona.

Oxfords

Three words. Classic, classic, classic. Oxfords are one of my favorite types of shoes, they are simply and utterly timeless. But most importantly they scream, "I'm classy, and I know it." They pair exceptionally well with a nice boyfriend jean. If you do not own boyfriend jeans, you can achieve the same look for less, by rolling the cuffs on an old pair of bootcut jeans.

Button-Downs

Ahh, the classic button-down, never gets old. Might I add that this also is a MUST HAVE piece towards dressing on the preppy side. This might even be more important than the blazer.  This will be your foundation piece to most preppy outfits. Think of it as your starting point, from then on you will start to layer on top of this piece, embellishing and adding interest to your outfit. Try this: Layer a crew neck sweater over a patterned or plain button - down. Make sure to pull the collar and cuffs over the sweater so they are visible. Add some neck and arm candy, and you'll be good to go.

Pearls

When dressing like a prep, pearls will be your best friend. This will be the main stone you will ever wear. Like most preppy pieces, pearls are timeless, and add a certain sophistication to any outfit. Buy at least one pair of pearl stud earrings, and a couple strand necklaces and you are prepared for any outfit combo. Try this: Layer pearl strands over a little black dress or your favorite sweater.

Crew Neck Sweater

I absolutely adore crew neck sweaters. They are extremely versatile, and also really cozy for Winter or Fall. You can wear this style of sweater multiple ways but this are my favorite way to sport it. Try this: Button a Chambray shirt all the way up, then place the sweater on over the chambray. Make sure the chambray you purchase is a tad big on you. That way you have extra room to fold the cuffs on your arms.

Classic Gold Watch

I don't think I really even need to explain this essential piece, a classic gold watch. You would be crazy not to have one! If you haven't invested in one yet, what are you waiting for?! This kind of watch is not just for preppy outfits, it goes with everything. You will definitely get the most bang for your buck with this piece. I usually prefer Michael Kors watches, or Kate Spade. Don't feel like you have to buy these brands though. There are many affordable options out there, that look strikingly similar.

'Boyfriend' Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are comfortable, but also exude an effortless 'cool'. You can throw these bad boys on with just about anything. Try this: To add a more 'preppy' feel to your look when wearing these type of jeans, tuck your shirt in to make the outfit look more formal.

Bermuda Shorts

For those hot summer days when your boyfriend jeans, are just not cutting it. Bermuda shorts are perfect for spring and summer. These would look perfect with a pair of Sperry's or of course, Oxfords. These shorts give any preppy outfit a more casual look.

Tote Bag

Last, but not least, is the beloved tote bag. This is like the universal handbag for every preppy dresser. What I like most about this type of bag is that it has so much room! I'm in college, and this is the perfect size to carry everything I need like: water, makeup, wallet, and most importantly books!

What are your favorite preppy accessories?

Top Fall Lip Colors (M.A.C. Rebel)

M.A.C REBEL

Hello lovelies, just recently I decided I'm going to start a series on the Top Fall lip colors! I ventured out to my local, and most coveted M.A.C. store to find an Autumn worthy shade. At M.A.C. I always feel like a kid in a candy shop, gazing at all the pretty colors, and sparkling eye-shadows. After many reviews I had read online, I finally found  a shade to lust over. This shade is called 'Rebel'. This is not your traditional, everyday shade (hence the name rebel). However I like to keep it interesting when it comes to lipstick, so I will most likely wear more than others. Although this color is quite dark and mysterious, it fades nicely throughout the day into a medium shade berry. After fading, this product almost gives off the qualities of a lip stain. The formula to the emulsion is very rich and glides on like velvet. 'Rebel' could be considered 'matte', yet has a tiny bit of sheen to it. Be sure to take a look at my video and pictures below.

Christian Siriano - New York

I finally arrived to New York city yesterday just in time for my my birthday, and some retail therapy.

I started in SoHo and ended up in the East and West villages. The East and West villages are considered the 'hip' areas of New York. For a girl who loves shopping at unknown stores, this is heaven on earth.  The paved streets are lined with never-ending blocks of exquisite boutiques that you probably have never heard of.  However there are some well known brands along the path. I happened to come across one of my very favorite designer's store, Christian Siriano. I wasn't surprised to see how darling and sweet the stores interior was. As soon as step in the door there's a feeling of being somewhere important. The colors are soft pastels, however the space has edgy upgrades. The zebra rug adds texture and also a bold print to contrast the soft colors. The extravagant chandelier, dazzling from the ceiling really just sets the mood. To top it off the store offers Mimosas to quench your thirst while doing some extreme shopping. This store is definitely a sanctuary for girls everywhere!

The Bling Ring - A Fashion-Filled Movie

"THE BLING RING"
I don't know about you girls, but once in every blue moon, a movie that puts an emphasis on fashion comes out, I dart to theaters to see the midnight premiere! I am so exhilarated to see this film for many reasons. Number one is that, obviously, it is a movie that features fashion. Stacy Battat (costume designer) emphasizes using designers that were popular during the time that the actual incident happened. So don't be surprised if you see Emma Watson sporting the infamous Juicy Couture sweatsuit. Battat says, most of the characters of the movie snagged monogrammed Louis Vuitton bags, and that the movie featured a lot of Dior. The second reason I will be racing to the box office to see this is that it is based on an actual true story, for me this makes the movie ten times more interesting, but also believable. The synopsis of the movie basically consists of a group of fame-obsessed teenagers use the internet to track celebrities' whereabouts in order to rob their homes. This production features the always lovely, Emma Watson, knowing that she chooses her roles tastefully, this movie should be a great one! The Bling Ring is set to be released this coming Friday, June 14. Let me know what you guys think about this movie, are you going to go see it?
